Good Golf Carts Come To Those Who Wait

Our beloved golf cart of three years needed serious help. The paint was chipping off, the support for the back seat was broken, and we blew out the Bluetooth speakers. It rattled and shook when we drove it. The estimate to fix it was $6000, or we could buy a fully loaded new one with a warranty for $9000. We opted to get a new one.

After researching, I decided on an Evolution D5 Maverick 4 golf cart in Caribbean blue. It's a golf cart with all four seats facing forward and running boards. The dealer had five golf carts in the model I wanted, but none of them were in Caribbean blue. He had a Caribbean blue golf cart with two of the four seats facing backward and no running boards, which I could be driving the next day, but I didn't want that one. When I asked about special ordering the one I wanted, he told me he had one on order for another customer for eight weeks and could never get a straight order out of the factory on when one could be shipped. I was torn between the golf cart I wanted and one that would bring me immediate satisfaction. My husband convinced me to order the golf cart I wanted and wait it out, as I'd likely be that much happier in the long run.

A famous saying is that "good things come to those who wait." This saying holds a lot of truth regarding achieving our goals and dreams. Often, we find ourselves settling for things that are not what we want because they are readily available or seem like easy choices. However, it is essential to recognize the value of holding out for what we truly want and not settling for anything less. One of the main reasons for holding out for what you really want is that doing so can lead to greater long-term satisfaction. While settling for something just "okay" might provide temporary relief or convenience, it can lead to feelings of regret or dissatisfaction in the long run.

Patiently waiting for your desire can result in a more profound sense of fulfillment and joy when you finally achieve it. Holding out for what you want can lead to personal growth, self-discovery, and new opportunities and possibilities. You may discover paths you had not considered or encounter experiences that broaden your horizons. Staying for something meaningful can push you to explore your passions, strengths, and values. It teaches you patience, resilience, and determination – all valuable qualities contributing to personal development. Settling for less than what you want can limit your potential and prevent you from reaching new heights. Ultimately, holding out for what you want can lead to a more enriching and fulfilling journey.

Of course, it is important to note that holding out for what you want does not mean being rigid or uncompromising. Flexibility and open-mindedness are also necessary traits, allowing you to adapt to change and consider alternative paths. However, when it comes to your core values, aspirations, and dreams, it is crucial to stay true to yourself and not settle for anything less than what you believe you deserve.

Holding out for what you want can lead to greater satisfaction, personal growth, and expanded opportunities. While the journey to achieving our desires may require patience and perseverance, the rewards of staying true to what we truly want are undoubtedly worth the wait.

And speaking of worth the wait, about 10 days after placing my special order, I received a text that my D5 Maverick 4 in Caribbean blue had arrived—just in time for the July 4th golf cart parade!
