Corona Virus...travel bans in Europe.
Corona Virus...colleges are closing.
Toilet paper is sold out almost everywhere.
This was just yesterday's news! What the heck is going on?
I don't know if this disease is as scary as the media says it is. I don't know if everyone is overreacting to something that has so far killed far less people than heart disease, cancer, obesity, the flu, and terrorists. What I do know is this: our lives are changing in ways we don't like. There is fear and uncertainty in what this disease is, how it spreads, and who will get it. There is disappointment that we can no longer do what we want. There is sadness that things we love are being canceled to prevent spreading of the disease. While we can't control all that happens to us, we can control how we react to it. Here are some real tips to combatting Corona Virus besides "wash your hands" and "sneeze in your elbow."
1) Quit reading about The Corona Virus. Quit watching Corona Virus updates on the news. Catch up on reading or watching something that makes you happy instead of making you worry. What you think about is what you attract. Attract "happy."
2) Assess your finances. While we've enjoyed the economic boom these past few years, if you haven't thought about budgeting or saving for times like these, now is a good time to put something in place. I personally love an app called Acorns. You can round up the spare change on your purchases to save, or set an amount of $5 a week. You get deposits in your Acorns account by using the app to purchase from select vendors like Apple and Groupon.
3) Choosing to stay home bound? Now's a great time to brush up your skill set by taking an online class in something to advance your career or enrich your life.
4) Keeping your immunity up is a great way to resist any illness. Quit smoking, eat right, take your vitamins, and getting plenty of rest are some of the easiest ways to maintain your health. Your friendly neighborhood hypnotist can help you with all of these.
5) If your family vacation or travel plans have been altered, find a creative and fun replacement for the plans that would have been. Spend quality time with your friends and family via Skype, Zoom and/or Facetime with your loved ones. Just because your home bound doesn't mean you're social bound. If you or anyone you know needs a personal boost and is homebound due to Corona Virus, just know that I do online sessions with clients too.
Life goes on. Make sure you're a part of it!
