Getting Real With Myself
In 7 weeks, we’re moving…again. After living in 2 places for about a year, we moved to our current home full-time in October. We combined two complete households back in October, thinking we had done the right thing for us...but instead, we find ourselves frustrated with our situation.
The thought of having to move all over again is daunting. But the thought of living 24/7 in a home in a poorly designed home for us is worse.
How many licks does it take to get to the center of my unconscious mind?
So, this might be one of those blog posts for myself again. While I think I do an amazing job for my clients with hypnosis, every now and then I come across a personal situation that throws my unconscious mind into a downward spiral. I tell my clients, “There’s a reason why brain surgeons don’t operate on themselves. There’s a reason why dentists don’t do their own root canals. Neither one has enough perspective on the issue.” I needed a little help on this one!
Revolutionizing Resolutions
2021 is wrapping up, and the beginning of 2022 is just days away. Congratulate yourself on all your accomplishments in 2021, whether 2022 was a breeze or your toughest year ever. All that matters is you got through it, so celebrate your successes and be proud!
While you’re in this positive state of mind, let’s use this week to set some REAL and REALISTIC goals for 2022. I’m all about helping my clients live the life they’ve always dreamed about, so here are a few goal setting worksheets you can use to set a path for success yourself regardless of your goal.
Christmas Quandaries
I was at a Christmas party this past week, and one of my friends broke down and started crying. She is having a tough time this holiday season. She’s reached out to her children and they have not returned her calls. She asks herself, “Why don’t they call me?” “Why are they being this way?” “Why don’t they want me in their lives?” Maybe her kids are ungrateful and selfish brats, and maybe they’re perfectly justified in their actions because they view her as a horrible mother. Whatever the reasons are, she’s asking herself the wrong questions.
Compress and Release
Even though I may look like a “New Yorker,” Cleveland, Ohio is where I spent the first 25 years of my life. For those of you from Cleveland, I grew up in Berea, Ohio.
Berea…Berea…you just met a girl from Berea! (to be sung like “Maria” from West Side Story).
a note to myself
Today’s blog is for myself. I’m in the midst of some major life changes. While I’m confident everything will be okay in the end, these next few months are going to be critical for myself and my partner. We’re both being pushed beyond our limits in many ways, and it’s important we stay focused on our end goals so we don’t get overwhelmed by the numerous little speed bumps and potholes that just pop out in front of us when we least expect it.
The Art of Assertiveness
I hate saying “No.” I hate the feeling of disappointing someone I care about. I hate the feeling that I might be letting others down because I can’t jump right in and help out. I hate being put on the spot and the feeling of being pressured to do something I just don’t have time to do. But you know what I hate worse? Weaseling out of something I shouldn’t have accepted in the first place, because I knew damn well that I didn’t care enough about it and/or didn’t have the time to do it!
The Power of Forgiveness
Working as a hypnotist pretty much means I'll never have a dull day of work ever again. My clients spill their guts to me about injustices in their past, and often times those guts include someone who has wronged my client. Whatever that person did, it affected their life significantly and they're having a lot of trouble forgiving that person what they did, or forgiving themselves for allowing that person to do that to them. Finding peace in forgiving that person is a huge step towards healing yourself.
Taking Back Your Power
Last year I began taking a series of courses with Robert G. Smith who teaches Eutaptics, which is a brilliant combination of Hypnosis, NLP, and Tapping. I love his combination of these techniques because it gets results very quickly, but more importantly, I get to use my sense of humor in order to help my clients get those changes. I completed my Level 1 Eutaptics Training last week, and look forward to starting Level 2 in July. I want to share with you one of the lessons I took to heart while going through my Level 1 training, and that is The Upper and Lower Models of the World.
The Cure For Boredom? Curiosity!
Boredom.
Medical experts call it the ‘disease of our time.’ They say "Everyone suffers from it." That feeling you temporarily went through until your school lecture was over, when you finally got through the line at Disney to ride the ride, or that feeling you had on a slow day at work? Medical experts have now decided "boredom" is a disease.
Set It...And Forget It!
In the 1970’s, Ron Popeil made a fortune with products like the Veg-O-Matic, Mister Microphone, and the Ronco Pocket Fisherman. You knew a Ronco commercial when you heard the iconic “But wait…there’s more!!!” One of the products Ron Popeil sold was the Showtime Rotisserie and BBQ, that featured the magic phrase “Set It…And Forget It.”
