How The Dark Arts of Hypnosis Influenced The Election
The election results are in...and while the majority of Americans who voted are delighted with the results, several million Americans are wondering, "What the fuck just happened?" Both Republicans and Democrats will attest that "the other side" is fucking nuts. Democrats are certain that Republicans voted for a pussy-grabbing, gay, and trans-hating crook who is going to set women's rights back 1000 years. Republicans are certain that Democrats voted for a woman who was in office while inflation went haywire, pushed for men to compete in women's sports, allowed millions of undocumented illegals to pour through our border, decided not to mention our President has dementia...and then couldn't think of anything she'd do differently from the current administration if she were elected President. The hate and vitriol from the Democrats is off the charts. The gloating and "I told you so" memes from The Republicans is equally infuriating.
Welcome to The Dark Arts of Hypnosis, a system of persuasion techniques effectively employed by BOTH political parties, news organizations, and anti-American factions to turn you against each other. These techniques work on an unconscious level. The suggestions given to you are in the form of "credible" news and stories, with an underlying opinion and narrative the creator wants you to believe. The wording and presentation continuously work on your subconscious mind, creating feelings of fear, worry, anger, hate, and resentment.
The following is a brief overview of the techniques The Dark Arts of Hypnosis employs and how they could have swayed you without you knowing it:
Opinion Stories That Pass As "News": This is one of the most disheartening abuses of The Dark Arts of Hypnosis, because people believe they are getting "news" when the news being presented is very biased. I just read this headline: "There's already a snag in Trump's transition with the Biden administration." That "headline" is actually an "opinion." The story continues: "Donald Trump's team has reportedly been dragging its feet on important paperwork for transition planning in coordination with the Biden administration, potentially impeding a smooth beginning for Trump's return to the White House." More opinion! If this was just "news," it should read, "Donald Trump hasn't turned in the transition paperwork. However, the writer uses many terms to sensationalize the story, including: "dragging its feet," "important paperwork," and "potentially impeding a smooth beginning." This piece is designed to unconsciously sway the reader to believe that Trump isn't doing what needs to be done.
When you read enough stories slanted like this over time, you automatically accept what the writer(s) want you to believe.
Emotional Triggers: Politicians, newscasters, and journalists know how to tap into emotions, making voters feel strongly about a candidate or issue, often without realizing why. One example I saw in this past election: Democrats know that abortion is an emotionally charged issue for their votes and played up Roe vs Wade, as well as told the stories of several women who needed abortions and couldn't get one. Republicans, who tend to be more pro-life, made a conscious decision to play up illegal immigration to their votes, showing story after story about South American gang members taking over apartment buildings and raping and killing innocent Americans. If you hear the same narratives repeatedly, it becomes TRUTH in the listener's mind.
Confidence and Charisma: Political candidates often use confidence and charisma to appear more trustworthy and likable. Donald Trump connected with working-class Americans with his "tell it like it is" approach. Kamala Harris, who connected much better with college-educated Americans, frequently mentioned her middle-class upbringing to connect with voters.
Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris also used celebrities to try to sway voters their way. They know "your vibe attracts your tribe." Donald Trump had a significant boost by aligning himself with Elon Musk and podcaster Joe Rogan. Kamala Harris aligned herself with Oprah, Taylor Swift, and Barack Obama. Voters are more likely to vote along the lines of the people they best identify with.
Repetition: When you hear something enough, it becomes TRUTH. If you hear that something unjust is happening repeatedly, it makes you angry. When you listen to it again, it's obvious that you're right and others are wrong. Pretty soon, when you see or hear someone vote against your belief system, it can be enough to make you hate that person and all others like them.
This blog is not intended to be a full-scale explanation of The Dark Arts of Hypnosis, but only to make you aware of some of the ways you and others are subtly manipulated daily. The best way to defend yourself from The Dark Arts of Hypnosis is to carefully analyze the information you receive, who is behind it, and what they are trying to accomplish. If you get your news from one source or all politically aligned sources, it's time to expand your horizons and get your news from multiple sources so you're better informed. Watch for misleading and manipulative headlines. They're everywhere! Be aware that "news" is not news, but someone else's opinion, who is trying to persuade you to their point of view."
