Good Golf Carts Come To Those Who Wait
Our beloved golf cart of three years needed serious help. The paint was chipping off, the support for the back seat was broken, and we blew out the Bluetooth speakers. It rattled and shook when we drove it. The estimate to fix it was $6000, or we could buy a fully loaded new one with a warranty for $9000. We opted to get a new one.
Identifying the Values Most Important to You
I recently had to run for election to the board of my condo association. I campaigned on the following: Vision, Proven Leadership, Experience, Honesty, Integrity, Transparency, and Fun. After giving this some thought, these are the values I put into everything I do, whether it be hypnosis, Airbnb rentals, or managing the affairs of our condo association.
Celebrating Independence Day
As we get ready to celebrate America's Independence Day this Thursday, it's time to remember that many countries celebrate this day to commemorate the day they gained freedom from another country's rule. The holidays are often marked with fireworks, parades, and speeches, during which people celebrate their nation's independence and history.
Troll-ing For Attention? Why You Should Keep Nastiness Off Social Media
A few years back, I had a friend who wondered why she wasn't meeting any single guy. On a whim, I checked out her Facebook page. She had the following memes posted:
Saving Your Sanity from Cyber Bullies
It's been an exciting month or two as I've been running to be on the board of my condo association. As election day gets closer it's escalated into a mild form of cyber-bullying. While the threats are indirect and more passive-aggressive, they can still sting. Here are a few tips on navigating cyberbullying should this happen to you.
The Importance of Having a Good Relationship with Your Father
Last year, I attended a workshop on The Laws of Attraction. I was thrilled to share my Rate-A-Date worksheet with the attendees. However, there was another gentleman there who was a professional pickup artist, or, as we like to say in the world of hypnosis, a member of the seduction community. He was a big dude, well over 6', bald, wearing glasses and overalls. He shared how he systematically picked up women on dating websites, step by step, and at one time, was dating 30+ different women.
The Magic of Fairy Lights and Kiddie Crafts
A few weeks ago, I went on a vacation with several of our friends, and one of the ladies bought some wooden race cars and fairy light kits for anyone who wanted to do them. Memories of all the arts and crafts projects I did as a child came flooding back. I was an only child, and my mother was always looking for ways for me to entertain myself. I remember doing paint-by-number kits, making pot holders with a weaving loom, various jewelry-making devices, a pottery wheel, and building rockets and car models.
The Importance of Memorial Day
Memorial Day is more than just a three-day weekend that marks the unofficial start of summer. It's a time-honored tradition in the United States, dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military.
Is "Getting Your Money's Worth" Really Getting Your Money's Worth?
A few weeks ago, a terrific opportunity came up. Friends of mine asked if I knew anyone who might be interested in purchasing their "vacation club membership." The perks included membership to a club along with thousands of vacation points. It was perfect for what Doug and I wanted and had been looking for, but was it a good deal? We began asking around. Other friends we knew had a similar deal and paid a lot more. We researched online and discovered we were indeed getting a good deal.
Forgiving Your Mother: A Step Towards Inner Peace
While I feel honored to have helped so many on their healing journey, first as a comedian and now as a hypnotist, I sometimes forget that I must pay attention to my healing journey. I started experiencing a series of health issues that I hadn't experienced in several months.
How to Deal with Personal Attacks on Your Character
I'll spare you the details...but my character was attacked this past week. It was a verbal assault, and it caught me entirely off guard. Whether these attacks come from someone you know or a stranger, online or in person, they are never easy to handle. Learn how to cope with personal attacks more effectively.
The Bodacious Benefits of Baking Soda Baths
When I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, my holistic osteopath gave me quite a few "alternative" suggestions on how to help my condition by lowering my stress and joint pain. One of her suggestions was to take a baking soda bath twice a week, with a 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda, for 20-30 minutes. I had not heard of anything like this before, so why not try it? It was an easy ask, compared to monthly IV treatments and handfuls of supplements.
